Renée Price Obituary
September 4, 1932 - February 1, 2025
Renée Joan (Palkowitz) Price, of Freehold, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 1, 2025.
Born on September 4, 1932, in New Brunswick, NJ, to David and Jennie (Weiss) Palkowitz, Renée grew up in Highland Park, NJ. She attended the New Jersey College for Women at Rutgers University, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Spanish. After beginning her career as an elementary school teacher, she married Eugene Price on June 20, 1957.
Following years devoted to raising her family, Renée resumed her education and earned a Master of Arts in Education from Kean College of New Jersey in 1983. She went on to work in special education within the South Brunswick School District before joining the Department of English faculty at Middlesex College in Edison, NJ. Renée taught there for over two decades until her retirement in 2014.
Renowned for her love of conversation and precise use of language, Renée was affectionately described by those who knew her as "a force of nature."
She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Eugene Price; her children David Price (Dianne Glenn), Susan Price Rubin (William Rubin), and Jeffrey Price (Cathy Smyth Price); and her grandchildren Danielle Price (Zachary Duhon), Hannah Price, Aliyah Price, Micah Rubin, and Josh Rubin.
Renée was laid to rest on February 3 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Middlesex College Foundation.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Renee was my best colleague pal. She made everyone feel special with her many kind words and riveting attention. Like a doting sister, she was generous with her time, hugs, and warm great big beautiful smile. I loved her for it. I often fondly think of the wonderful time my wife and I shared with her and Gene. She was truly a unique friend.

Renee, You were a wonderful colleague. It was always a treat to drop in your office and assess the goings on of the English Department. You always stood up for what you believed in and articulated your thoughts with generosity and aplomb. Rest in power and peace.
