Renata Zimmerman Obituary
Renata was born on June 20, 1924, at Eitzen, Minn., to George and Clara (Burmester) Mielke. She was employed as an assistant cook through District #861 at Washington-Kosciusko and Jefferson Elementary Schools and Winona Senior High School and also was the head cook at St. Martin's School for 27 years, retiring in 1991.
She married Wilbert J. Zimmerman on Nov. 12, 1943, in Winona. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2014.
Renata was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she helped with the church bulletins and attended Bible class.
Renata is survived by sons, David (Carol) Zimmerman, La Crescent, and Donald (Janice) Zimmerman, Rochester; daughter, Elaine "Ellie" (Richard) Welch, Cannon Falls; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, with four great-great-grandchildren expected shortly.
She was preceded in death by husband, Wilbert; parents; sister, Dorothea Mielke, and brother, Robert Mielke.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona. Visitation will be held at the funeral home after 1 p.m. on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Martin's School Scholarship Fund.

Sitting on the front porch on the davenport, Grandpa on the left, Grandma on the right. Grandmas feet up, sipping on a beer and snacking on a bowl of pretzels. Thats where the two of them will always be in my mind. Love, and miss you Grandma. She's back in your hands now Grandpa, do what you did so well for all those years!
