JOOSTE, Rene Francois On April 12, 2011 in Ottawa. Rene, cherished husband of Freda Campbell since 1948; beloved father of Morgan and his wife Marvel Sampson, dear Oupa of Emily and Kayleigh. Born in Calvinia, South Africa of Huguenot ancestry, graduate of Witwatersrand in mining engineering/geology with a McGill doctorate in geology, he was on Alcan's exploration staff in Guinee, Newfoundland, Hawaii, Mexico, Namibia, Venezuela, Brazil and Australia before switching to research in Arvida and Kingston. Predeceased by his three brothers and their wives in South Africa, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Michigan and South Africa. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital and the Colonel By Retirement Residence for their care. Private cremation, then a memorial service at Southminster United Church, 15 Aylmer Avenue on Monday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, friends might like to donate to the Southminster Memorial Fund, the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice.
