Jim was a colleague of mine at MassBay in the Legal Studies and Government Department. Jim always greeted you with a smile, and often a great story from his days in law enforcement. There were many times he helped me with materials for my law classes. Jim was well liked and admired by both his friends here at MassBay, and by all of his students. What a loss for everyone. My sympathies to his family and friends. Jim was a wonderful man and he will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the entire Fowlie family. I knew Prof. Fowlie as a colleague for well over a decade at Mass Bay Community College, sharing elevator rides and conversations in the faculty office area; we battled the photocopy machines together. Jim had a great sense of humor -- his wit illuminated the workplace. His booming voice would echo down the third-floor corridor when lecturing or taking attendance in his criminal justice courses. He will be missed by his colleagues and especially by the hundreds of students who were fortunate to have him in class. -- Robert Tarutis, professor of humanities, MassBay, and president, MassBay Professional Association

Jim was one of my teachers during my MJHS days and was a fellow officer when I was an Auxiliary Police Officer. He helped my family out during a domestic/custody issue when he was a Supervisor and for that I was extremely greatful. I remember him during my football days in Melrose he was a guy everyone loved and was well respected on the community on which he dedicated his life to. I will never forget him, his family has my deepest sympathy and respect. God speed Jim, you have earned your way onto the internal kingdom and we will all miss you...

I was sorry to hear about Jim's death. When I was the Assistant Dean of Liberal Studies at North Shore Community College,I hired Jim many years ago and we have been friends and colleagues ever since. He was the type of instructor that not only cared about his students, but provided them with the academic and 'real life' type of learning that creates a genuine life long learning experience. He will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences to all his family and friends. He gave so much through all of his services.

Dear Paula-and the entire Fowlie family-
Our sincerest sympathy to all of you.
Words are difficult in these times but-
Please know that Jim was a dedicated friend to all and was loved by many.
He was my first midnight supervisor, and imparted a great deal of knowledge on me and all other people he mentored at work. He was a great teacher-and respected colleague and friend.
Jim had a way of advising through experience- and always helped out whomever he could.
Jim was always upbeat and so much fun to be around at events and gatherings that will always be fondly remembered. His sense of humor and booming laughter was always uplifting.
Katie and Noelle always smile when they would talk about Cowboy's visits to Dairy Delight while they worked.
Please let happy memories ease your pain and may our prayers for comfort reach you.
Sincerely,
Mark, Tammie, Cam, Katie Noelle DeCroteau
