We were so blessed to have Fr Orth at St Gabriels. We will miss him !!

Father Orth was so special to me. I had him as a teacher at Bishop Conwell in the 80's and we developed a close friendship. He helped me through the ups and downs of high school life and my parent's divorce. He was a great listener and always made time for us high school girls. We kept in touch and 10 yers after high school, he flew down to Texas to marry my husband and I. He prayed over our first son before a major surgery. He was like a father figure to me during a time I needed one. He touched my life deeply and I am better for knowing him. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be missed.

From our first meeting to the last Mass Father Orth said for us it was evident that he was a terrific priest. When St. Margaret Mary closed there was no question of where we would be going. Following Father Orth to St. Gabriel was definitely the right decision. It is hard to convey just how special he was but one of the funniest and endearing things I will always remember was his love for the Eagles. When Father first put on his Eagles hat and lead us all in the Eagle chant I know there are many parishioners that were at first shocked but delighted. He was so down to earth and so devoted to helping us all figure out our best way of living. We will miss you Father Orth and want your family to know that we were so blessed that they shared him with us. I know that there is celebration in Heaven with Father around. Thank you Father for your guidance.

My condolences to Father Orth's family. He was a priest at Archbishop Wood while I was a student there and he was a favorite of all the students. He had a great way of establishing a relationship with the kids that lasted for a lifetime. Many of my classmates were married by Father Orth. He made a great impact on the school community at Wood as well as at my parish Nativity of Our Lord in Warminster. I'm sure the people at all the parishes he served at would all say the same. Father Anthony Duke Orth Rest In Peace my friend after a job well done and a life well lived.

Father Orth was the kind of priest that all priests should aspire to be. He had an outstanding sense of humor which led him to relate to the children on many levels. He said the mass and delivered the homily at my youngest daughter's eighth grade graduation from St. Ephrem School in 1999 and I will never forget it. He told a very funny story about his time at Bishop Connell H S. We all laughed until we cried! My daughter was an alter server and always hoped that Fr. Orth was saying the mass. My condolences to his family. I am sure that he will be watching over you from his place in Heaven.

Our condolences to all Father Orth's family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We will miss our dear Father Orth very much. We have been with him since he first came to St. Margaret Mary Parish and when our parish closed followed him to St. Gabriel's parish. Father Orth was always so kind to both of us. We will treasure all our memories we had with him. We will always remember our Birthday luncheon celebrations with Father and the office staff and all his stories he would tell. Father always told us about his love of books especially with the Civil War.
At Sunday masses whenever there was an Eagles game to be played that day no one will ever forget the "Amen Amen" chant Father would say about his beloved Eagles and his Eagles hat he would put on for us.
We will miss you so much Father. We know you are at peace with God now and in his loving arms.
Rest in Peace Father.

I was privileged to ave worked with him for the yers he was pastor at Nativity BVM in Port Richmond where I was a Fourth Grade Teacher. His connection to the students and faculty was incredible. His kindness was admired throughout the parish and the community. And I had the opportunity to call him my friend. Living in DELCO afforded my the opportunity to attend mass at St. Margaret Mary and St. Gabriel's. I will miss him as will all those who knew and loved him. Rest in the loving arms of the Lord you served so faithfully all those years. You deserve that place reserved for the faithful.

My condolences to the family and friends of Father Orth. As Pastor of St. Gabriel Parish, he lived a life of humility and service. His lessons for our PREP students were fun...sign language, poems, encouraging kids to raise the rafters with shouts of Amen, and using modern movies to teach Biblical lessons were his forte. His love of compassionate care for all God's creatures is an example of his service in Jesus' name.
Father Orth, may you Rest In Peace and may perpetual light shine upon you. Amen.

My condolences to the relatives of Fr Orth. Besides a GREAT VOICE, Fr Orth's Homilies were GREAT. He ALWAYS made a connection from that Sunday's Gospel to every day life, like things going on in Philly or the country. I only went to Mass at Nativity being celebrated by Fr. Orth. My mother + I were shocked + really disappointed when we found out Fr was transferred. After a couple weeks I looked up to where he was transferred to and we went there every Sunday, then followed him to Norwood. He made Mass enjoyable. It will NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT HIM. He was truly "ONE OF A KIND".

Fr. Anthony Orth accompanied our family and many of the teens in our parish of Immaculate Conception, Levittown, during the 80s. He taught me what it meant to be an Adult Advisor of High School students in CYO. He taught them what it meant to keep commitments to your family, your friends, and especially to your loving God. He taught me that, if only one student responded for a CYO activity, we should go forward with the planning. And he taught many of us, teens and adults alike, about the beauty and significance of the Seder meal as a prelude to our commemoration of Holy Week.
He taught me to "invite", because many people in our lives wait and need to be invited. His invitations included the opportunity to go "church-hopping" on Holy Thursday evening. This activity ended up at the family table, where everyone could discuss all that they had seen and experienced on this sacred night. If we are able to visit churches on Holy Thursday next year, my husband and family and I will do so in loving gratitude for the life of a beautiful priest, Father Anthony Orth.

Father Orth was a wonderful man, always kind with a true gentle spirit. He had incredible listening skills and was able to rationalize, even with irrational teenage girls! His ability to relate bible stories with current music made Religion class and Retreats so educational and fun! I always look back on my conversations with Father Orth with so much gladness. He will definitely be missed by many. My love and prayers to his family and friends. ~ Sarah Elia; Bishop Conwell Class 1987

You made religion relevant to teenagers and to me in particular through your use of music, your sense of humor and your humility. I will carry you in my heart always. Be nice.

Rest in peace Good Father Orth. Thank you for being such a model priest while at Nativity of our Lord in Warminster. You baptized our youngest and made it a very special occasion for us. You also officiated the wedding of our daughter and likewise it was special for us. Dietrich & Barbara Koletty.
