Rex M. Frew, 84, of Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care, New Wilmington, died the morning of Aug. 13, 2009, in his residence.He was former resident of Glass Road, New Castle, and Bonita Springs, Fla. Born Aug. 7, 1925, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Stanley Frew and Florence Moore Frew Eichenlaub.He married the former Ruth Kramer on May 30, 1950. She survives in New Wilmington.Mr. Frew was employed by Kroger and worked at several stores in Lawrence County. He retired Jan. 15, 1984, after 29 years of employment.He previously had worked for the A and P supermarket as a produce manager. He sold farm machinery and tractors with both Shaffer Farm Machinery and M. Dale Andrews and also assisted with Bob Hogue Black Top and Paving.Mr. Frew enjoyed making his own sausage and had a sausage route through the streets of New Castle. He ran his family farms and sold beef.He was a member of the Lodge of the Craft, Westminster No. 433, and was a 32nd-degree Mason of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of New Castle.He was also a member of the Coachmen Club.He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of Paws and Taws as well as president of the Citrus Park Square Dance Club.He was a member of New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He had formerly been a member of the Second United Presbyterian Church, where he had been an elder.In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandy Frew of New Castle; one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Joe Scarfone of New Brighton; a brother, Lyle Frew of Harrisburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Jesse and Katelyn Frew of New Castle.He was preceded in death by a brother, Darrel Frew.Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Harlansburg Road.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. George Yates will officiate. Burial will be in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Cemetery, Ellwood City.Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2656 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pa. 16105 or the Woodside Bus Campaign, Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care, 238 S.
