Reyes L. ""Ray"" Urquidez

Reyes L. "Ray" Urquidez, 81, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Calvary Assembly of God with Pastor Phillip Price officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Reyes L. "Ray" Urquidez was born June 3, 1934 in Loving, New Mexico to Martin Sosa and Delores (Lujan) Urquidez. He married Mary Jean Hernandez October 26, 1956 in Loving. Ray worked as a mechanic for many years here in Carlsbad. He had his own shop for a while and then worked at Fordtown until retiring in 1992. Ray was an excellent musician and often played the guitar at church services. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, but most of all he cherished his beloved wife, Mary Jean. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jean Urquidez; daughter, Sharon Hill; sister, Velma Marquez; brothers: Sam, Moses and Gilbert Urquidez.
Survivors are his grandson: Mark McKinney and wife, Evelyn of Carlsbad, NM; great-grandchildren: Abrielle Jean McKinney, Cheyenne Carrasco, Jordan Carrasco, Kylee Marr; brother, Raul Urquidez of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Erminia Castillo of Carlsbad, NM, Rosa Escobar of San Bernadino, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Liddell, Roy Hernandez, Tim Carrasco, Kenneth Urquidez, J.J. Munoz, Sammy Urquidez and Joe Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are Boyd Banks, Terry Voll, Jim Bailey, Chuy Salcido and Eno Rodriguez.
