Rhonda Sue (Moore) Mason, 63, of Corydon, Iowa passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Wayne
County Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
Rhonda was born to Max and Patricia (Hellyer) Moore on September 18, 1959 in Corydon, Iowa. She was
a 1978 graduate of Wayne Community High School, and then went on to obtain her business degree
from AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. Upon graduation from AIB, she went to work at Hawkeye Bank in
Chariton. After having children she stayed home with them until they reached school age. For the last 27
years Rhonda worked at the Wayne Community High School in various positions.
Rhonda married the love of her life, Richard Mason on December 16, 1979. The couple went on to have
two children: daughter Amanda and son Andrew who have given her 7 grandchildren.
Rhonda loved to spend time with her family and friends at the lake. Many memories were made
camping, boating, and water skiing with family. Family time at home included lots of games where she
strictly enforced the rules. A batch of freshly popped popcorn was usually involved as well. Spending
time with family was one her greatest joys in life.
She enjoyed helping with many different Wayne High School events over the years. Track being her
favorite especially since she was a runner herself. For years Rhonda worked the finish line at the track
and cross country meets and ran clock and scoreboard at basketball games. Rhonda not only enjoyed
helping with these events but she liked watching and cheering on the kids.
She was very involved in 4-H, her church family, Mothers Club, Library board, and many other
organizations around town. In 2012, Rhonda was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame. Rhonda's kind
heart and generosity will be missed by many.
Left to cherish her memory is husband Richard Mason; daughter Amanda (Bill) Wood; son Andrew
(Kerry) Mason; grandkids Robert, Jessica, Haley and Kady Wood, Nate, Max, and Piper Mason; father
Max Moore; sister Tammy (Scott) Ingram; sister-in-law Carol Jean McClaflin; niece Naja Jones (whom
Rhonda fulfilled the grandma role for); along with many other extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother Patricia and brother Donald Moore.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in
