Richard Abdullah Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 26, 2016.
Richard Muhammad Abdullah passed peacefully at home on 11/25/2016 at the age of 50.

Richard is survived by his mother, Corrine Adeeba Abdullah of Birmingham; wife, Mattie Watts; children, Manuel, Sarah, Patrick, Andrew, and Jordon; mothers of children, Pam and Sonya; siblings, Kevin, Manuel, Donna, and Estella (Sonya). He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Abdullah and son Baby Richard.

Richard was born on 4/22/1966 in Detroit, MI to Corrine and Manuel Abdullah. He was raised in Birmingham, later moved to California and then settled in Washington State. Richard worked at Stoneway Concrete as a Mixer Driver, a job he loved so much he said he would do for free. His six children meant the world to him and they were always in his heart and daily thoughts. He wanted his children to pursue their dreams and live a life full of love and gratitude.

Richard had many talents and was an accomplished musician, artist, motorcycle racer, and amateur astronomer. He was a generous individual who loved life and was passionate about constant self-improvement. He believed in the power of love and gratitude.

A celebration of his life is scheduled from 4pm-7pm on December 2 at Greenwood Memorial Park Funeral Home in Renton, WA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Seattle's Union Gospel Mission at www.ugm.org or The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County at www.thehumanesociety.org.

Richard was one of the kindest and warmest people I have ever met, and there are simply no words for the sadness of his tragic loss. Richard had a natural fascination of the sciences and the vast universe that surrounds us, yet his ability to make those immediately around him laugh and feel at ease was second to none. A true gent that will be missed and forever remembered by so many. My heartfelt condolences to Mattie and his family.

I am saddened by the loss of my grade school friend. My condolences go out to the entire family in this time of loss. In reading some of the other comments, I am glad to know that Richard was so well thought of and especially that he continued to touch those that he came in contact with like only RICHARD could. May God Bless and Keep you all.

Richard made a lasting impression upon us the first time we met. He was a gentleman, with a warm personality, and he was charming. We wish we'd had more time to get to know him better. There was a lot of common traits we shared. Our prayers and love go out to Mattie and all of his family.

I was lucky enough to meet Richard through his beautiful bride Mattie and get to know him as a good friend. He had a special ability to make people laugh and was warm and generous. His smile and presence lit up whatever room he was in. His excitement was infectious. I'll miss his many voices, especially Beanie and Rick. He gave great hugs. He was truly a renaissance man, good with his hands, mechanically adept, and a talented artist; I think that most of all though, he was a scientist at his center, constantly feeding an unquenchable curiosity about the world. I am extremely saddened by his sudden loss. Wishing for comfort and peace at this difficult time to Mattie, his children, family, and friends. There will never be another Richard, and none of us will ever be the same. Those of us fortunate enough to have been in his orbit are all the better for having known him.

In Shock...gonna miss my friend even though we haven't seen each other since high school. I'm so glad I was able to reconnect with him through face book and to hear his voice when we exchanged numbers. He will be truly missed.
