Richard Alagna Obituary

Richard "Rick" M. Alagna, age 51, a resident of Hale for the past 15 years, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He was born Jan. 14, 1959, in Royal Oak to Anthony J. and Carmella (Maura) Alagna. He grew up and lived in Troy until he was 17, then also lived in Waterford and Kalkaska.
A graduate of Kalkaska High School, he attended Troy High School through the 11th grade. He attended Northern University and Oakland Community College and earned an associate's degree from OCC.
He was the proprietor of Power Sport, servicing recreational vehicles, and over the years had worked at various occupations. He loved baseball, fishing, hockey, riding dirt bikes, snow skiing and water skiing. He was "everybody's friend," a very special person.
He also enjoyed traveling to Europe, out West and Mexico to hunt and fish. He also liked to ride motorcycles. He was a member of the Hale Eagles.
He was the son of Carmella Alagna and the late Anthony; special friend of Susan Fox; nephew of Phyllis Monticcielo; and sibling of Michael (Ann), Sara and Richard Scott, Jackie and Richard Slavin, Sam and Lena, Marie Burg, Janice and John Riera, Gary, and the late Jane Alagna. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd., Troy. A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
