Richard James Atwood passed away March 2, 2012 in Republic, WA. He was born June 8, 1930 in Long Beach, CA, the son of John C. and Mildred (Harrison) Atwood. Dick was a successful orchardist in the Green Bluff area and a general contractor, doing a great deal of work in the Inland Northwest. He moved to Fruitland, WA in 1990 doing work in that area as well. Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruthe Atwood in 2006 as well as his son Patrick Atwood and his daughter Belinda Valley. He is survived by his children Mike and Mark Atwood, both of Spokane, Mary Kay Hanlin of Deer Park, WA and John (Velma) Atwood of Fruitland, WA; his sister Teresa McDermott of Spokane; and 10 grandchildren. Graveside service for Dick will be Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 1:00 pm and will take place at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel, 7200 N. Wall St., Spokane, WA a Memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Westend, Wellpinit WA on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 12:30 pm following Mass.
