Richard K. Bowman was born on January 1st, 1967, in Columbus, Nebraska. He was the second baby of the New Year at the hospital, which earned him a silver cup etched with the word “Prince”. On October 26th, 2023, Rick succumbed to the severe depression with which he’d been grappling for many years. Rick was a wonderful human being: kind, smart, philosophical, creative, insightful, adventurous, artistic, and naturally athletic. He was so talented that once a hobby, sport, or other activity captured his interest, he’d dive in headfirst and master it in short order. He was the epitome of a good guy, and it was a joy to be in his presence.

Rick is survived by two brothers: Chris and wife Joan (Brummond) Bowman and John and wife Terry (Hancock) Bowman. He is also survived by his three sisters: Kathy Moser, Theresa and husband Dan Schumann, and Janet and husband Joe Tegtmeier, as well as a sister-in-law, Lisa Hudnutt. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Glenn and Dorothy Bowman, his eldest brother Mark Bowman, and his nephew Jacob Bowman.

A gathering in the Midwest to share memories and honor Rick will be held sometime in the future.

Please be kind and gentle with others. Mental health is an incredibly challenging journey for so many; for those you know and those you don’t know. The family encourages those who knew and loved Rick to consider a donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or another agency dedicated to helping those who struggle every day with mental illness.
