Richard BOYETTE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 19 to Sep. 20, 2021.
BOYETTE, Richard C. "Rick" was born October 21, 1947 in Tampa, FL. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Rita; his daughter, Nancy Hatton (James); son, Richard Alan; grandchildren, Katie, Megan, and Connor Saltzgaver; his mother, Louise; brothers, Edward and Alan, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is his father, Roy Edward Boyette; and his brother, Timothy Boyette; sisters-in-law, Susan and Kathleen. Rick went to be with his Lord on August 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after battling Mesothelioma lung Cancer for 16 months. He underwent treatment and numerous trials at Moffit Cancer Center. When they ran out of options Rick sought treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Research Center in Houston, Texas where he was part of Target Research Studies. No Where in his book of life will it read "he gave up". His Marine Corps spirit was evident unto his last earthly breath. He now breathes deeply and freely without pain with his Heavenly Father. Rick was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle and was a friend to many. Rick and Rita enjoyed over 50 years of marriage filled with love, loyalty, and great happiness. They made many wonderful memories with their children, grandchildren and friends. He was greatly loved and admired by many. He will be remembered for his unselfish devotion to his family and friends. His loss has left a tremendous void in our hearts and we will carry him with us as we begin our healing. Rick served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. Sgt. Richard C. Boyette 3rd Amtrac BN."A" CO. 1st PLT 1st Marine Division Vietnam, March 1967-November 1968. Rick was admired and respected for his leadership and fearlessness in combat. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action on September 14, 1967 in Vietnam, presented to him by Major General Donn J. Robertson USMC. He was also awarded other medals, decorations and commendations. The Marines Corps brotherhood was evident as Rick continued his close bonds of friendship made during his time in the USMC. Rick retired from Tampa Electric Company, as a supervisor, with 45 years of employment. He was so proud of the men and women he worked with and they formed lasting bonds of friendships. He was very fond of the years spent with TMC. Even in retirement he stayed connected to his TECO family. They moved to Winthrop in 2014 and their wonderful neighbors are now part of their extended family. They are so grateful to their family, and their many friends who have gone above and beyond to encourage and support them during this time. Rick's faith was very important to him. He was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon for over 50 years. Rick and Rita were married at Nativity Church in 1971. Their children were baptized and confirmed there. He was an usher during the 4:00 0'clock Mass. Rick made sure the family attended Church even on vacation, regardless of where that might be. He was always upbeat and positive even unto the end of life. Rick knew he was going to be with his Lord and that one day we would once again be together. The scripture says in Exodus 23:26 "The number of your days God will fulfill". God filled Rick's life with love. No one could be more loved by their wife, children, grandchildren, Mother, brothers and other family members than Rick. His life was also filled with the love of many friends who have supported his family in his absence. If you desire to make a contribution in his honor, in lieu of flowers, the following are options: Moffitt Cancer Center Tampa, FL., MD Anderson Cancer Research Center Houston, Texas, LifePath Hospice Indigo team. Rick was one of the kindest souls you could ever know.
One of my fondest memories is the story of him climbing up to put shutters on two story houses In the neighborhood before a "hurricane". This was shortly after his double knee replacement.
Then there is the garbage can duties.
He will be missed and I will continue to pray for him and all the family.
