Rick Brugge Obit

Longtime Arlington resident and business executive Richard Brugge, 80, died on July 9, 2025, at a hospital of pneumonia surrounded by his loving family.

Rick, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born in 1944 to Peter and Helen Murray Brugge in Gadsden, Alabama. He graduated in 1966 from the University of Alabama where he earned a degree in marketing. He was vice president of American Homestar Corp. where he was a respected leader and innovator in the manufactured housing industry during his 55-year career.

Rick married Kathy O'Neil O'Melia on September 1, 1978. Throughout his life Rick remained an avid Alabama fan. He was also a faithful member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Arlington.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Elizabeth Brugge and husband Byran Sibley of Birmingham, Alabama, son Richard Brugge Jr. and wife Dr. Jennifer Bond of Tampa, Florida, son Mick Brugge of Fort Worth, Texas and daughter Molly Brugge of Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by grandson Payson Brugge and granddaughter Anna Brugge, both of Tampa.

A funeral Mass for Rick will be at 11 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2100 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas. A rosary will be said prior to Mass, at 10:30 a.m.
