Richard Calabro

San Diego - Richard Calabro, 88, died Monday December 8th, 2025, in San Diego California. He was the beloved husband of Wenxian for 33 years. Born in Tuckahoe New York, a son of the late Paul and Catherine (Viola) Calabro, he had lived in San Diego since 2013. Richard was a sculptor and professor at the University of Rhode Island for 38 years, retiring in 2005 as Professor Emeritus. He exhibited widely and was awarded several grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, and the University of Rhode Island.

He is survived by his wife Wenxian, daughter Rachel Calabro and granddaughter Pepper Travers of Providence Rhode Island, and his brother Paul Calabro of Eastchester New York.
