Richard F. Chayer, 85, of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024.

Born in Hanover, NH, on September 20, 1939, he was the son of the late Irene (Thompson) and the late Robert O. Chayer. Richard graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1957 and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy aboard the USS Des Moines.

A longtime resident of Keene, NH, Richard retired from the Kingsbury Corporation in 2005. He was an active member of the Elks Club and the National Muzzle Loading and Rifle Association, where he found great camaraderie and shared his passion for marksmanship and tradition.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura C. Robichaud and her husband Philip of Westmore, VT; his son, Richard L. Chayer of Dugway, UT; his brothers, Robert of Crescent City, FL, and Mark and his wife Mimi of Chester, CT; and his sister, Antoinette "Toni" Masure of Wheelock, VT. Richard also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Ryan Scarlett and Maeve Scarlett, both of Worcester, MA, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Reginald, Rodney, and Jacque Chayer, and by his grandson, Dakota R. Chayer.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Lyndon Center Cemetery, 226 Center Street, Lyndonville, VT, followed by a celebration of life at the Lyndonville VFW Post 1003, 156 Hill Street, Lyndonville, VT.
