He married Andrea, "the love of his life" on May 25,1991. Some of their favorite memories include seeing The Jersey Boys six times, an Alaskan Cruise, and spending time with family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the outstanding care provided by Kishwaukee Cancer Center, Bethany Rehab Center and Heartland Hospice. "You provided comfort to not only Rich but his entire family. We will be forever grateful." Survivors include his wife, Andrea; stepchildren, Kelly (Wade) Maisto of St. Charles, Tina (Kevin) Mastrangelo of St. Charles and Jim (Becky) Burke of DeKalb; his five grandchildren, Erica, Jordan and Kevin Maisto, and Aidan and Connor Mastrangelo; his mother, Phyllis; brother, Joe Ciarniello of Oswego; nephew, Philip Prusa of AZ; cousins, Valerie Beckwith of Elgin and Mickey Zalusky of CA; and many dear friends. My Dear friend Andrea and Family,
Jerry and I will always remember Rich with a smile, as there was no one who could tell a story like him! He was so much fun! Between the two of you it was always a time of laughter! He was so proud to be your husband, Andrea! You certainly were a team. His devotion to his Mother and his love for his brother, Joe, reflected on his caring heart. Having been raised by my stepfather, I could see how he readily accepted the honor and spoke with such love for all of his family. Each time we visited he always shared stories of his grand kids and was so proud of them. Your family and his brother, Joe, helped him through the final chapter which was truly an act of love. We will miss him, loved him and always will remember him! We will keep all in our prayers for the days ahead, but know that his memory will live on with the retelling of the Rich-isms! Our family were blessed to know him!
Love to all,

Lynn Johnson

Dear Andy, Children and Grandchildren.

We are so sad and so sorry that Rich has passed. He was the most wonderful man, full of love, kindness, and devotion. He was a terrific husband, step father and grandpa. He was so fun, always. We had the time of our lives with Andy and Rich. We did the Bed and Breakfast thing with them, and taught them how to auction. Greg and I considered him one of our best friends. He was the best. We know for sure he will be waiting for us when we get to heaven, and will have plenty of back up. (inside joke). God must have really needed an excellent chef in heaven, because in Rich, He is getting the best. We will miss him the rest of of our lives. For you we pray comfort, peace, and joy from God. We know we will be with him again for eternity. In Jesus Name,we love you all very much. Jo and Greg

Not a day will go by that I won't think of Rich with his infectious laughter and the glimmer in his eyes when he was going to tell us a story. He was so proud of his grandchildren..He would call me down to his office to always show me pictures Andrea had sent him. I was truly blessed to have known this wonderful man..May God bless you Andrea and ur family...

I am blessed to have enjoyed one of the Jersey Boy shows with Rich and Andrea. Rich loved the show like it was his first time and I could tell he was thrilled watching my excitement as it was my first time. I may not have known Rich for several years; however, what I did know of him was that he adored his wife Andrea and his beautiful grandchildren. He was a gentle, kind and loving man with a great sense of humor. Rich will be missed and I know every time I hear a song from the Jersey Boy's I will think of him and smile fondly. Love and blessings to all of you during this difficult time. xoxoxo
