He was born on April 13, 1938 in Ink, Arkansas to the late Owen Cole and the late Madine Howard Cole, the eldest of three brothers and one sister. He was united in marriage for 48 years to his loving wife, Roberta Smith. Richard was a truckdriver by trade and was an avid outdoorsman, especially in his love of fishing, hunting and gardening. When he wasn't enjoying all his various hobbies, you might find him watching old John Wayne movies, as he was a great fan of "The Duke". Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed. He is survived by: Wife: Roberta Cole of the home Son: Rick Cole and Rita of Hot Springs, Arkansas Daughters: Tina Cole of Mena, Arkansas Sherri McCulley and James of North Little Rock, Arkansas Grandchildren: Nathan Cole, Rebeka Cole, Ryle Cole, Kaitlyn January, Rachel January, Brandi Knight, Ashley Knight, John Richmond, Jr., Justin Cole, Shawnna Howard and Jacob Cole. Brothers: Gary Cole and Linda of Mena, Arkansas Kenneth Cole and Beth of Keo, Arkansas Sister: Shirley Aleshire and Jim of Board Camp, Arkansas 5 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Madine Cole and by a sister, Celia Mae Cole. Funeral services will be Friday, May 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Dallas Avenue Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery at Ink under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, May 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Since my dad died, this is the first time I've thought to look at his online obituary. Thanks to everyone for all the kind condolences. It's been 3 years now (hard to believe it's been that long!), and i still miss him. Guess I will for the rest of my life. I can't wait to see him again one day!
