Richard "Dick" M. Dettmer, 83, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Woodview Health Care Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, Richard graduated from South Side High School. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. His family ran a Phillips 66 fuel station for many years. He then worked for Mobile Oil before retiring from Adams Blinds in 1997. He was a member of the American Legion Post #296, and Eagles Post #248. Richard enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, and going to family gatherings. He was a great example and provider to his family. Surviving are his children; Cheryl (Marv Bergman) Dettmer of Mesa, AZ, David (Connie) Dettmer of Silt, CO, Lori (Mike Harper) Phipps of Huntertown; grandchildren, Jillian (Jesse) Williams, Josh (Nancy) Prezbindowski; and great-grandson, Isaak Prezbindowski. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Julia Dettmer, wife, Anna Dettmer, sisters, Vicki Ball, and Bertha O'Neil. Service is 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road with calling one hour prior, Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Calling at the funeral home Wednesday, October 28, 2015, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
