ROUSES POINT -- Richard J. "Dick" Duffy, 76, of Rouses Point passed away Aug. 8, 2008, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born on May 1, 1932, the son of Harold and Alfreda (Hamelin) Duffy.
He attended Rouses Point High School and served in the United States Air Force from Jan. 5, 1951, until his honorable discharge on Dec. 10, 1954.
On Aug. 27, 1960, he married Bernadette Manor at St. Anne's Church in Mooers Forks.
Dick retired from Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories on May 1, 1994, after 39 years of employment.
He was a proud honorary member of American Legion Post 912 in Rouses Point and was presented with numerous awards for his service, loyalty and dedication as an officer and historian. He was also an honorary member of the Rouses Point Knights of Columbus and the Rouses Point Sportsmen's Club and the Ridge Runners Shooting Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed playing baseball, softball and basketball in his day and assisted with the startup of the Rouses Point Raiders hockey organization, as well as promoted the building of the Rouses Point Civic Center.
Dick is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Bernadette "Bernie" Duffy; one son, Rich Duffy and his wife, Helen, of Clayton, N.Y.; one daughter, Sheila Wynkoop and her husband, Jim, of Manchester, N.H.; two grandchildren, Megan and Sean Wynkoop; stepgrandchildren, Ian Ingerson of Clayton and Laticia Urf and her husband, Dr. Erwin Urf, of Watertown; three stepgrandchildren, Mason Ingerson, Julia Urf and Olivia Urf; a sister, Mary Davis of Watervliet, N.Y.; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Kevin John, in 1964; two brothers, Kenneth Duffy and George Duffy; a sister, Helen Duffy; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He very much enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rouses Point Rescue Squad or the American Legion Post 912 in Rouses Point.

Bernie & family,
