Our beloved Richard J. Dunner, age 40, born on November 13, 1974, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Richard Dunner; and his adoring children, Desirae and Richie Dunner; as well as his loving parents, Richard and Donna Dunner and Daryl and Gayle Lucas; Richard is also survived by his two sisters, Dana and Denise Dunner; Richard also leaves behind many beautifully loving nieces and nephews. As a boy growing up in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Richard was a charismatic, friendly, fun and athletic person. He had gained notoriety as a pitcher playing high school and college baseball. As an adult, while maintaining heartfelt relationships with many of his childhood friends, he was known as loving and giving, willing to offer of himself whenever he was called upon. He also possessed a prolific sense of humor and made all who were graced with his presence smile and laugh. Richard touched the lives of everyone he knew in a beautiful way. Friends received Wednesday and Thursday 4-8 p.m. at the READSHAW FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1503 Brownsville Road, Carrick, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. Send condolences to:

I am so very sorry about your loss. Rich had become a good friend to me in recent years and his passing is a terrible tragedy for all of us who knew him. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.
I know that he came from a good family and that you loved him very much, as he did you. He always spoke in the most glowing terms of how much his family meant to him.
I admired all those wonderful qualities that made him the special person that he was. He had intelligence, wit, charm, the biggest brighest smile, always knew when to make me laugh when I needed it and a caring heart that made him a great person.
I will always be thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know him and to call him a friend. I will cherish his memory for years to come.
May God hold you all in the palm of His hand during this difficult time.

I never met you but wish I would've had the chance. I'm a loved one of someone who loves you. I played baseball against Richie for years (PONY,COLT,LEGION) He was Carrick ..I was Baldwin....we had some great games as both our teams were always 1-2..Me and Richie then played college ball together......The kid always smiled..always. Condolences to the family....you raised a good guy.

Uncle Rich,
I will never understand why.. only you will. Words cannot express how these last couple days were so weird without you being there with all of our family. I would catch myself looking around for those white teeth that would show everytime you would smile. God am I gonna miss that smile. May you find peace with our loved ones who are already up there. I was Rich's first baseball coach when he was 7 or 8 years old playing for the Carrick Expos. Not only was his talent as a baseball player obvious, his talent as a leader and friend to all was equally evident. I will always remember the boy with the strong arm and big smile. Rich and I were classmates/friends throughout middle and high school (alphabetically, I almost always sat behind him), and although we fell out of touch many years ago, I'll always remember his infectious smile and amazing personality.

To the Dunner Family,
No words can ease the pain of Rich's parting. My condolences to you all. Memories of the last time I saw Rich was at one of the CCAA picnics. He was playing softball and when he was up I said to him" Remember Rich fly balls are outs". He turned and smiled at me and said "Okay Mr. McArdle" then proceeded to smack the ball out of the field, over the race track and into the creek below. We all know where the creek is. Rich trotted the bases touched home and turned and looked at me and gave me that "Rich smile". May the Lord hold Rich in the palm of his hand. God bless you all.
