Richard Gene Eastin
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Richard Gene Eastin, 82, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, August 24, 2018, with his family by his side. Richard was born on October 3, 1935, in Atlanta, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Pearl Eastin and his brother Wallace Eastin, Jr.
Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Jolene Eastin and their children, Cindy Vernon and her husband Mark, Aleisa Shepherd and her husband Mark, and Richard Eastin, Jr. and his wife Lisa and his grandchildren, Jesse Vernon, Sara Cavazos and her husband Manny, Sam Vernon, Brendan Shephard and his wife Alexis, Kyle Shepherd, Devin Shepherd, Bradley Shepherd and his wife Erica, Katelyn Shepherd, Elliot Eastin, Nathan Eastin, Tigist Eastin, Genet Eastin, and his four great grandchildren Harper Shepherd, Kate Cavazos, Cash Cavazos and Malakai Shepherd.
He served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. Richard retired from Eldon High School in Eldon, Missouri after 33 years of teaching high school art and coaching the high school golf team. Richard and his wife moved to New Braunfels, Texas in 1998 to be closer to their children. While living in New Braunfels he enjoyed playing golf, hot air ballooning, and being in a billiard league. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. His quick wit, sense of humor and loving spirit will be greatly missed by his family.
Services will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home. Public Visitation will be Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be Friday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m.
