Richard R. Egidi

Richard R. "Dick" Egidi, 94, of Monessen, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 22, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. Dick was born in Monessen, a son of the late Marco and Ida Leonetti Egidi. Dick graduated from Monessen High School with the class of 1943. He was Catholic by faith and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen. He was also a member of the Monessen Elks, Knights of Columbus and Lions Club, where he was a former past president. He was an avid fan of all sports. Dick was a hard-working family man who adored his grandsons. Dick was a bricklayer by trade, and a member of the Bricklayer's Union. He had been in partnership as co-owner of S.E.T. Construction and had been the president of Dan-Rich Corp. Dick was very accomplished in his trade and had worked overseeing innumerous large construction projects in the area. Dick had worked for over 30 years for Dick Corp. and had been a supervisor at the time of his retirement. His "crown jewel" was the assignment of project manager of the current Monessen High School. He was very honored to construct his former alma mater's new home. Dick was an extremely proud veteran of the Army Air Corps, having served as a flight engineer in World War II. He saw action in numerous other countries during his campaigns. Surviving are his wife, Theresa Cicci Egidi, with whom he would have celebrated 66 years of marriage in September; sons, Ronald Egidi and Robert Egidi; his daughter, Tressa and husband Sheik Shannon; grandsons, Gino Egidi and Brock and Brennen Shannon; brother, Armand and wife Gilda Egidi; sister, Clara Ritacco; brother, Marco and Arlene Egidi; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend and former secretary, Nancy Baker Vranick; and three sisters-in-law, Isabelle Egidi, Sylvia Egidi and Josephine Repovz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Egidi; his twin brother, Morgan Egidi; and his beloved granddaughter, Taylor Morgan Egidi.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen with Father Michael Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum of Monessen.
