Richard Eng Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 10, 2010.
Richard Eng
of Chelmsford, formerly of Tyngsboro; 64

CHELMSFORD -- Richard Eng, 64, a long-time resident of Chelmsford, and formerly of Tyngsboro, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on November 6, 2010, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his devoted family. He was the respectful husband of Corinne Eng of Chelmsford.

Richard was born in China and came to the United States at the age of 9. His family proudly established the Hong & Kong Restaurant in Chelmsford in 1963, which is still family owned today. Richard also spent some time in the 70's working for the Food & Drug Administration as a Meat & Dairy Inspector for the state of MA, which expanded his knowledge of the food industry and operations. Richard served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War, where he spent 2 years in Okinawa, Japan. He also served on the Board of Health and as a Selectman for the town of Tyngsboro.

Richard loved spending his time fishing, traveling and riding his motorcycle. He had a true love and respect for nature, and his hobbies allowed him to find peace and solitude away from his demanding restaurant life. Richard spent time traveling to different parts of the world, and visiting many cultures and experiencing all they had to offer. In his travels and in his life, Richard was a friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives' he touched along the way.

In addition to his loving wife, Corinne, Richard is survived by one son, Edric Eng of Chelmsford, one daughter, Maegan K. (Eng) Kopka and her husband Kris, and one grandson, Brady Kopka, of Warwick, RI. He leaves behind two sisters, Selina Lee, of Boston, and Priscilla Lim of Newton, and one brother, Joseph Ng of Sudbury, his uncle, Gary Ng of Boston, and many nieces and nephews.

ENG -- Visiting Hours will be held on Friday from 9:30-12:00pm at BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, 50 Billerica Rd., at the intersection of Riverneck Rd. in Chelmsford.
