RICHARD FAULK Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 14, 2014.
Richard Boling Faulk, 64, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 13, 2014. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on December 3, 1949, to Truett Charles and Ogutha Glenn Boling Faulk. He attended White Station High School and graduated from Memphis State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. Dick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Long Faulk, and his two children Philip Michael Faulk and Elise Faulk Rogers (Aaron) and three grand buddies, Pax, Mo and Silas Rogers, the joys of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Glenn Faulk. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Truett Faulk. Dick had been in the Commercial Real Estate Business since 1973 where he represented both local and national firms in the disposition and acquisition of properties within the Metro Market. He has been a member of the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS since 1976. He holds the SIOR designation, specializing in Industrial Real Estate. He had been a member of SIOR since 1989 and has served locally as Chapter Programs Chairman, Treasurer and President. He was elected to the National Board of Directors for a two year term and was awarded the Largest Dollar Volume Transaction in 1995. He had served on the Professional Standards Committee and Grievance Committee at MAAR both of which require participants whose ethics are beyond reproach. He had also served on the Education Foundation Board of Trustees. As reported by many who knew Dick, he was the "go to guy" for information and counsel regarding real estate transactions, and a mentor in business to many moving into the commercial real estate business. He was an inspiration in work by teaching that the brokerage business is not about the amount of commission earned by an agent, but by how well the agent meets the needs of their clients. Dick will be remembered as a man with great integrity who was selfless and always willing to help others. He was an amazing husband, father, "pawpaw", friend, business partner, and mentor. He found great joy in spending time with his family as well as friends and colleagues. He simply loved people. He had a great sense of humor and a laugh that could fill a room. He was a hard worker with a huge heart who inspired those around him to be better. He left a legacy and a name of which his family will always be proud. Most important was his recommitted relationship with his Lord and Savior. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Central Church (Collierville, TN) at 3 p.m. CT with the service to follow. The family requests that the memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Memphis, TN) Central Church Women's Ministry (Collierville, TN), or Dr. David Agus for Prostate Cancer Research (Beverly Hills, CA).

I just learned that Dick had died- I am so sorry. He was a great guy. I had done several real estate deals with him over the years and he was always a delight to deal with. I will miss his great smile and his great attitude. Our commercial real estate community has lost a great one!!

I had talked with Dick many times over the years; yet when I found out his dad had retired from Memphis Furniture (where I also had worked), we shared many stories of times the both of us spent there. Dick always had a funny story to tell and would occasionally send me mementos of the company. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this time of sorrow.
