Richard Freeman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 6, 2010.
FREEMAN, Richard Anthony It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Richard Anthony Freeman on January 30, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born in Barnsley, England on January 7, 1942, to Bill and Molly Freeman of Yorkshire. A gifted student, Richard achieved his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Liverpool in 1968, after which he moved to Ottawa to pursue the Canadian dream. In Ottawa, Richard established himself as a talented professional computer software developer. With his dry wit and analytical mind, he was well known for clever insight, and being nearly impossible to beat at scrabble. Left with wonderful memories of Richard are his beloved Linda, his children Elizabeth and Karen, his sister Rachel and brother Peter and his grandchildren Callum, Amelie and Benjamin. Following his wishes, a private celebration of his life is planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Ottawa Hospital 5 East Medical Oncology Memorial Fund, for whose help the family is eternally grateful.
