Rich, You were a stalwart of engineering prowess throughout your life, following in the footsteps of your father. Cool under pressure, confident, competent and knowledgeable all describe Mitscher's chief engineer. We were within six month of decommissioning and Rich squeezed over 36 knots out of the old beast. Not many could ever dream of such a feat. Your expertise and example will be perpetuated by all those who knew you.
