Richard Harwood

I first met Richard at the P.N.E.U. Primary school in Hove and we have been friends ever since, and our parents were great friends over many years. We both went on to Brighton Technical College where we joined the students Squash club and together started up a students Swimming club. We had many good times together including when Richard spent a few days with us in Scotland, and he went with Janice to see the launch of the QE2. Before that we went walking in Battersea Park and he and I together lifted Janice over the railings to get out of the park after the gates had been locked. We had many adventures in our youth, lots of them on various golf courses over the years. Our last meeting was in in 2019 ( I think ! ) when Richard and Jeanne visited the UK and we met up with them, along with my sister Liz and John and Delia Spink, to enjoy a lunch in Petworth at the Angel Hotel. Richard was such a good friend it is hard to realise he has gone; we are so sad to lose him but thankful he is out of pain. Our hearts go out to Jeanne, Charlie, Lu, and Annabella. Richard and Janice Harwood.

A wonderful photo of Richard. That's how I will always remember him.
He was a kind, gregarious, treasured friend. Blessings to his loving family.

Richard was my Best Man on 20 June 1970, so he has a special place in my wife Valerie's and my memory.
We have not met for many years. They say 'distance leads to enchantment' but what it can never do is extinguish memories of our time in Libya during the mid sixties and ongoing friendship.
Richard, Rest In Peace. God Bless You.
