Richard Lynn Goodburn, 68, of Sylvester, died Monday, July 14, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

His Celebration of Life service was held at 6 PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors in Albany, GA, with military honors. Mr. Frank Pundavela will officiated.

He was born in Reed City, MI, and raised in East Jordan, MI. Richard was born to the late Edward and Pauline Goodburn. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church of E. Jordan, MI. Richard served in the Marine Corps where he worked in small arms repair. Because of his influence in the lives of boys in the neighborhood, following their basic training, each one came by his house dressed in their uniform to salute him. Richard was an avid outdoors man. He loved riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and doing any outdoor adventure with friends and family. Known as "Papa", loved by all. He never met a stranger that he didn't make part of his family. Richard was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Anne Everett Goodburn; three daughters: Lynn Marie Goodburn-Maness (Nicholas), Stephanie Bevington (Chris), Andrea Hill (Shaun); four grandchildren: Aleah Cothern (Jacob), Elizabeth Buchanan, Caitlin Hill, Marybeth Tucker; one great-granddaughter, Aoife Cothern; two brothers, two sisters, and numerous extended family members.
