Richard R. Grulkowski, age 87, of Columbus passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Dublin Methodist Hospital in Dublin, Ohio. Richard will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born on March 31, 1930 to the late Alvin C. and Pauline L. (Mlynczak) Grulkowski in Winona, Minnesota. He attended Cotter High School in Winona, Minnesota and graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Richard and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1975. He retired after a long career with Ashland Chemical in 1992. Richard is survived by his children Mary of Columbus, Ohio, Tom of Silver Lake, Ohio, Paula (Paul) Sloan of Columbus, Ohio and Jim of Columbus, Ohio, four grandchildren Andrew Robinson, Kyle, Shannon, and Emily Sloan and special cousin Mary Jo (Grulkowski) Griffith of Madison, Wisconsin. Richard was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of over 50 years Dolores Claire (Anderson) Grulkowski, his infant son Paul, his parents Alvin and Pauline Grulkowski, and his brother Joseph Grulkowski. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday December 9, 2017 at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220 with a short memorial service following directly after. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to be given in memory of Richard to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
