Richard L. Hackett

LaVerne and family, I am so sorry to learn of Dick's passing. We were out of the country at the time of his death. I enjoyed working with Dick during his time at B of A, and then when he did appraisals for Humboldt Bank. He will be solely missed by his family, friends and the community. Dixie and I were sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a great person and well liked by all who knew him and it was my good fortune to have an opportunity to work with him. He had excellent Appraisal skills while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. It was a pleasure to also work with him on the BofA sponsored California Livestock Symposium in the 1970's and early 1980's.
Dick will not only be missed by his family, but also by all who know and worked with him. Dixie and I send our very best to you, LaVerne, and we want you to know that we also share in your loss.

Dick was a great friend to me and my wife, Tal during our assignment in Eureka. He did a lot of appraisals for me while at Henderson Center branch and, as a result, enabled many real estate loans. Haven't seen Dick for a good many years, but he will certainly won't be forgotten. My prayers are with him.

I was sorry to learn about Dick's passing. I was just thinking about our trip to New Zealand and Australia and remembering all the fun times we had travel with the Bank. May the many happy memories of times spent with Dick and your family help you through this difficult time.

I have so many fond memories of working with Dick during our many years with the BofA.The fishing trips out of Shelter Cove and Santa Cruz were special.When we traveled to overnight business meetings with the Bank they usually bunked us together,( Boy could he snore!! )

I can't begin to list the wonderful memories I have because of Dick. The salmon, abalone, and perch fishing trips to Shelter Cove, the cider making adventures and poison oak burning episodes at the Howe Creek Ranch. They were all wonderful childhood experiences made possible because of the bond between your family and mine. Dick was always at the center of every adventure. He was an important figure in my life and he will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I worked with Dick as his secretary in the appraisal department in Eureka, and could not have had a finer boss. What a wonderful example he was in his love for his family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Laverne and the rest of the Hackett family...

Dear Hackett Family: I am so sorry about your loss. I have enjoyed meeting Dick on several occasions associated with my work with Steve. I always felt welcomed by Dick, and the entire family. I particularly remember Dick's generosity when I was included in family dinners on a couple of occasions. He always was smiling and positive, something I see passed on to his family. He was blessed to live where he did and to have such a family. My thoughts are with you all.

Grandpa, words can not express the feelings I'm having at this time. I will never forget and will always cherish the times we spent together and things you taught me. Whether it was coming to the ranch to visit, work over vacation or to go buck hunting, I loved every minute and the stay was always to short. Some of my best and fondest memories would never have happened without you,Grandma & The Hackett Family.

Dick, you were a great co-worker. You managed the Eureka Appraisal office professionally and competently. And what a hunter!! We had many great hunting expeditions both on your ranch and in places like Colorado, Idaho and New Mexico, just to name a few. The world is a better place because you were here.

Dick was somebody I looked up to since I met him, in fact I shot my first deer with Dicks help. Professionally I referred to him quite often. He was a True Gentleman and will be missed.

Dick was a fun guy to fish with with, I only hoped that we lived closer together so we could have done more of it.
Our last fishing trip was at Shelter Cove, that is the night Dick got the call from his doctor about his
prostate cancer. Dick never let his cancer get him down and enjoyed many more years including his
50th wedding anniversary in 2003, which Marian and I had the privilege to attend.

Life goes by so fast and we all become so busy that we never got as much time as we would have
liked to be with our friends. Now we must enjoy the wonderful memories that we have of our past life.

Lydia and I are sorry to hear this news. Dick was always kind to us and interested in what we and our children were doing. He once did an appraisal for us on Easter morning to help us with a loan. I am sure this is difficult but please know that he made an impact and will be missed.
