Richard Hanley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 7, 2018.
Hanley, Richard P

Richard "Dick" Hanley, age 82, was born on June 29, 1936, the third of six siblings, to Dr. Fleming J. Hanley, Sr. and Leila Carpenter Hanley in West Palm Beach, FL. He attended grades 1-12 at St. Ann's Catholic School in West Palm Beach, FL; Tulane University in New Orleans, LA; and Belmont Abbey Catholic College in Belmont, NC. Richard served in the Florida National Guard reserve from 1954 to 1964. He was a faithful and diligent employee in the accounting department at Pratt Whitney for 27 years. He married the love of his life, Nancy M. Norley, in August 1986. They were deeply devoted to each other, and spent 31 years together. Nancy pre-deceased him on July 1, 2018. Richard followed shortly afterwards on August 4, 2018.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Dr. Fleming J. Hanley, Jr. and his wife, Susie Hanley. He is survived by four siblings and their spouses: Pat and Joe McNulty of Port St. Lucie, FL; Linda and Jack Brennan of North Palm Beach, FL; Nancy and Greg McIntosh of North Palm Beach, FL; and Danny and Denise Hanley of Palm Beach, FL. Also, many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard and Nancy resided at Brookdale Assisted Living, Palm Beach Gardens, FL for the last six years. The family would like to thank the many friends and caregivers who assisted and truly cared for them over the years. Also, we would like to thank Trustbridge Hospice, which provided such wonderful care as Richard and Nancy's journey of love for each other came to the end.

Richard and Nancy's strong faith in God was always evident and a blessing for so many others to witness. They were active volunteers at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, helping out wherever needed.

The funeral mass will be a joint Celebration of Life, for Richard and his wife, Nancy, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4001 North Shore Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. They will be interred at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in West Palm Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John Fisher Catholic Church for the benefit of the Women's Guild, in honor of Richard's wife, Nancy.
