Richard Hess, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2024.
My son, Richard D Hess, Jr. passed to the Lord on April 29, 2021.

Rick was a kind, thoughtful and creative soul who was a friend to anyone in need. He loved his sisters Orey Hess and Melissa McCune (Chris), and his beloved mother Virginia Marshall. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Hess. His laugh was infectious, he was funny, and he enjoyed decorating and redecorating his home with finds from yard sales and swap meets. He could fix things and repurpose them into his own beautiful and precious masterpieces. He was a talented artist, always ready with pen or pencil in hand.

He loved his motorcycles, driving his trucks, and either bicycling or walking all over town. He was a collector of many things: books, angels, lamps, Barbies, and even people. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming in the ocean and exploring new points of interest. He often rescued rabbits, snakes, lizards, frogs, fish and other animals.

Mental health challenges and substance abuse addiction made Rick's life difficult at times. The world wasn't the kindest nor most comfortable place for Rick. He often wondered why people weren't more kind to one another. Remember to remind your children that you love them no matter what.

Rick is held in our hearts and memories every day. We love you and will wait patiently until we are reunited with you once again. Love, Mom.
