Richard Jetton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 27 to Dec. 28, 2020.
Richard Glenn Jetton Sr. died on October 28, 2020, at the age of 88.

He was born to the late Glenn "Bo" Jetton and Elizabeth Violet Small on March 17, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was raised in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1949. He then enrolled at Texas Christian University, where he lettered in golf for two years before graduating in 1954 with degrees in both biology and chemistry.

While attending the University of Texas Dental School in Houston, he met Martha Carol Smith, who was in the Lilly Jolly School of Nursing nearby. They married in 1959, and then moved to Amarillo, Texas, soon after to start a family. Together, they raised three sons: Richard Glenn (deceased); Jonathan Kyle of Palmdale, CA; and Daniel Mark, of Pound Ridge, NY. Richard taught his children that hard work and an active mind were essential to a healthy life, and he lived by these principles. In addition to practicing dentistry for forty-six years, he devoted himself to a number of interests outside of work, including golf, hunting, competitive shooting, photography and genealogy.

In addition to his two sons, he is survived by two grandchildren (Jessica Sicard of Sacramento, CA, and Sam Jetton of Pound Ridge, NY); two great-grandchildren (Willow and Remy Sicard) and three nieces (Deborah Woolley, Rebecca Root and Amanda Root). He is preceded in death by his wife Martha, his son Glenn and two daughters-in-law: Lori Fish and Alison Zingaro.

The family asks that any donations in his name be sent to the American Cancer Society.
