JOHNSON, Richard T. Richard T. Johnson, 79, of Ellington, husband of the late Jean (Livingston) Johnson, died Wednesday, (June 11, 2008) at Hartford Hospital. Born in East Hartford he had lived there for most of his life and had lived in Manchester and in Ellington for several years. Mr. Johnson was a member of the United States Navy and before retiring, he was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years. With his wife, Jean who died on November 2, 2007 wintered in Florida for many years. He leaves a daughter, Nancy Purnhagen and husband, Vincent of Ellington; a son, Richard Johnson of Rowlett, TX; a brother, Wilson Johnson and wife, Davida in Florida; and six grandchildren, Audrey, Alyssa, Amanda, and Jack Purnhagen, and Cooper and Callie Johnson. A sister, Ruth Carroll, predeceased him. Funeral service will be held, Friday at 6 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. His family will receive friends, Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Demerritt Cemetery, West Peru, ME.
