Richard Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 17, 2024.
Richard Clarke Johnson, known affectionately as "Dicky," passed away on July 19,2024, in Calais, Vermont, at the age of 82.Born on February 10, 1942 in Norwalk Connecticut, Dicky grew up to be a dedicated machinist at Foxboro, where he was recognized as the company's best machinist. When the company relocated to New Jersey, they supplied Dicky with machines and shipped work to him, honoring his decision not to relocate.

Dicky was a man of strong character and integrity, teaching his children the values of strength, loyalty, and a solid work ethic, while always finding time for fun. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, earning him the nickname "Shotgun Johnson." He also maintained an amazing garden, which was a source of pride and joy.

His laughter was contagious, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Dicky's influence and teachings have left an indelible mark on his family and all who knew him.

Dicky is survived by his brother, Arne Johnson; his youngest daughter, Wendy Johnson; his grandson, Alex Johnson; and his niece, Christine Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arne Sr. and Geneva Johnson, as well as his brother Danny Johnson.

A small private celebration of life will be held in mid-September to honor Dicky's memory. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to his family will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

Dad I will always remember how much you provided and supported all of us and I can still hear your voice telling me " to take it easy " when I would get upset about things! I miss you so much!
