Funeral Services for Richard Johnston, 84, of Hartselle, Alabama, will be Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at Noon at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Johnston was born on Dec. 21, 1929 in Cullman to R. P. Johnston Sr.

and Nan Saylors Johnston. He passed away at home on Sept. 24, 2014. He was a graduate of Cullman High School and The University of Alabama. Mr.

Johnston was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. Mr. Johnston worked at Reynolds Aluminum, Martin Marine, Baker Industries, Teledyne Brown Engineering and Community Relations Association of Decatur. He was the founder of Jonrich Enterprises, Inc., Regal Employment, Inc. and One Track Mind. He served as an Elder at First United Presbyterian Church of Hartselle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marjorie Johnston Morgan.

Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Ruth Bishop Johnston; two sons, Brian (Mary) Johnston of Pascagoula, Mississippi and Jeff Johnston of Hartselle; one

daughter, Julie (Mike) Murphy of Hartselle; and two grandsons, Johnston Michael Murphy and Russell Pierce Murphy of Hartselle.

The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM - Noon with funeral service immediately following. Private burial will take place at Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Allsboro Alabama.

He was an avid Alabama Fan, quail hunter, duck hunter and fisherman.
