Richard "Dick" Northup Lancto, 83, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015, following a brief illness. Born in North Adams, MA, Richard was the son of the late Alvin and Ruth (Northup) Lancto. He attended Williamstown High School, Williamstown, MA and Christian Brothers Academy Prep School in Albany, NY. He was a member of the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Ft. Benning, GA. In 1953, he married Jane Mulcahy Lancto and lived in Southampton, MA, before relocating to Bowling Green, VA. Richard was a small business owner, comedian, and most importantly, a loving patriarch to his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Jane Mulcahy Lancto. Together, he and Jane had five sons and three daughter-in-laws; Kevin and Brenda Lancto, Charles and Shannon Lancto, John Lancto, the late Mathew Lancto, all of Caroline County and Thomas and Gail Lancto of Spotsylvania. He leaves several loving grandchildren, Eric and Kristie Lancto, Colleen Lancto, Rachael Lancto, Nathaniel Lancto, Kathleen Lancto, Joshua Lancto, Jillian Lancto, and the late Evan Lancto. He was a very proud great-grandfather of Madelyn and Maddox Lancto, his extended family includes many nieces, nephews, a brother, Craig C. Lancto of Shenandoah and sister-in-laws. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert I. Lancto of Westfield, MA. His wit, charm, and personality will be greatly missed. According to his wishes there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bowling Green Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 621, Bowling Green, VA. 22427.

So sorry to read about Dick. I called my brother, Ted Pierce, in Ohio. He was very saddened and shocked. They were great friends when they were young. We all are so sorry. Prayers are with you.
