I was deeply saddened to hear of Dick´s passing, and I wanted to reach out with love and remembrance from a time that still lives vividly in my heart. Growing up together on Hobart Avenue in Summit holds such a special place in my memory-your iconic home on the corner, the trampoline that brought so many belly laughs, and the warmth that radiated from every dinner party, every shared moment indoors and out.

I´ll never forget Dick´s 40th-"Oh Lordy, Dick´s 40!"-a banner that felt like a milestone back then, but now, in hindsight, was just the beginning of a beautifully lived life. Your father had a spark that lit up a room, a wit that lingered, and a kindness that stayed with you.

It warms my heart to imagine the brightness with which he was welcomed beyond the veil-by those who loved him first and now receive him again. What a life he lived with the greatest of love for his family.

With love & remembrance,
Anne Pearce Ornish

Your dad was a huge part of our childhood growing up in Summit. I have a ton of wonderful memories. Ginger and Larry absolutely adored him. Heaven just gained another beautiful angel.
Much love from all the Pearce kids

To know him was to love him! Dick was a legend (often self proclaimed!) at both Mere Point and Mariner Sands! If he didn´t agree, we all knew it... whether it was a clause in the association bilaws, an assessment for $20 bucks, or an ungiven gimme putt from 6 feet, there was no doubt we´d here from the almighty Dick! We truly loved him deeply, as we do your entire family! We will miss him dearly and talk about him often (I can already hear Geoff mimicking him... in the most respectful way possible!). Godspeed, Ken and the entire Schmalz family!

To Cathie and family,
Chuck and I are both in the Mariner Sands choir, and we loved seeing you and Dick in the congregation, worshipping among our many mutual friends there. Chuck was in the same golf group as Dick and had many stories to tell of Dick and their adventures on the course.
We extend our deepest sympathy to you all for your loss, especially one so sudden and unexpected. We know of Dick´s great faith, so we know he is with God in heaven and those he loved who have passed before him.
