Richard Mack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2007.
DENNIS - Richard F. Mack, 88, formerly of Albany, N.Y., died July 2, 2007, in the Alzheimers unit at Eagle Pond Living Center in Dennis.

Mr. Mack was born in Tucson, Ariz., to Francis and Patricia Mack, and grew up with his family in Mexico City. He met his late wife, Constance Bainbridge, in Guatemala, where he was working for Pan American World Airways and she was vacationing. They later returned to Albany, N.Y., where they were married and raised their four children, Penny, Barbara, Madeleine and Dick. They celebrated their marriage for 58 years, before Connie passed away in 2000.

Mr. Mack served in the Army Air Forces during World War II as a fighter pilot and test pilot in India. After the war, he managed the family business Anti-Corrosive Metal Products Inc. in Castleton, N.Y., and later established his own company, Antico Marine in Albany.

After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, boating and, above all, sharing his love of the water and nature with his children and grandchildren. Richard and Connie spent many cherished hours fishing and shelling the beaches together in Sanibel, Fla., and Cape Cod, where they spent their summers with family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his warm heart, teasing sense of humor and his gentleness with animals and children.

Mr. Mack leaves behind his sister, Suzanne Flynn of San Francisco; and his brother, Robert Mack of San Jose, Costa Rica. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Stewart Jones, loving husband of Mr. Mack's oldest daughter, Penny, who passed away in 2000; and their three children, Christopher Jones of Huntington, Vt., Brady Jones of New York City and Erin Jones of New York City; his daughter, Barbara Mack of Harwich; his daughter, Madeleine Keyes and her husband, William, of Milton; and their two children, Alyssa Keyes of Boston, and Bill Keyes of New York City; his son, Richard Mack and his wife, Maggie, of North Eastham; and their three children, Ian Mack of Orleans, Patricia Mack of Philadelphia and Peter Mack, also of North Eastham.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on July 28, 2007, at St. Joan of Arc, 76 Menands Rd., Albany, NY 12204, followed by burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilda's Club Capital Region New York, One Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
