Richard Albert Mansfield, 95, a former resident of northeast Kansas City, Urich, MO, and LaFeria, TX, passed peacefully on June 4, 2014, with family at his side at Corner Brook Place. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by Masonic and celebration services at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 14, at the Park Lawn Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street, Kansas City. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund or to Crossroads Hospice. Richard was born October 1, 1918 in Hollansburg, Ohio, the third of six children of William and Bessie (Clark) Mansfield. He graduated from Northeast High School. Richard retired as a Job Superintendent for Owens-Corning Fiberglass and was a longtime member of the Asbestos Workers' Local 27. Richard was a 50-year life member and past Worshipful Master of Rockhill Masonic Lodge #663 AF & AM (now Ivanhoe Lodge #446), a 50-year life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Kansas City; and a 50-year life member of Ararat Shrine Temple. At Ararat, Richard was a 50-year member and past Major of its Provost and a longtime member of its Director's Staff Unit. He also faithfully collected for Kansas City and Corpus Christi, TX Shrine circuses and drove children to and from Shrine hospitals in Missouri and Texas. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Allene, five siblings, a granddaughter and great granddaughter. Survivors include his four children, Toni Wiseman (Loyd), Dick Mansfield (Jennie), Barbara Zibung (Bill, deceased) and Robert Mansfield; 11 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren. He also leaves nine step grandchildren and their families, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
