Richard Mathison Obituary
PEORIA - (Ret) Col. Richard "Dick" A. Mathison of Shalimar, FL, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at his home, of natural causes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Telford and Alice Mathison of Peoria, IL; and his wife, Eleanor Holley Mathison.
He is survived by his three children, Richard A. Mathison (Rhonda), Holley Mathison Guarachi (Fernando) and Mark A. Mathison. He also has two grandchildren, Stefan J. Guarachi and Alexa E. Guarachi. Dick has a brother, Gary Mathison of Bradenton, FL.
He was loved by all the family and will be sorely missed.
There will be a private family service at St. Simons on the Sound Episcopal Church.

Dick and I grew up in the same church in Peoria, IL, the First United Methodist church, where our Mothers were good friends and participated in many church activities together. My friendship with Dick continued in Woodruff High School in Peoria, where we were in the Class of 1954. Dick was a great fellow, intelligent and always pleasant. My husband, Tom Walton, also a Woodruff High School alumni, and I send our sympathy to Dick's family. Joanna Gaines Walton
