He was a mentor to many of his business associates and family members and loved teaching them how to close a sale, handle an interview or any other challenges life would throw their way.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Donna, son Eric (Lisa), grandchildren (Audrey and Vanessa) and his siblings, Cindy Slawson (Steve), Donna Rosenson (Dan) , Elizabeth Ellis, Kathy Burgess (Howie), Paul Mayo (Alane), Pete Mayo (Katrina). He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Mayo, his mother, Betty Lou Mayo, and nephews Jacob Mayo, Paul Mayo, Jr. and Alex Mayo.
Rick will be remembered for his enterprising spirit, love of fishing, and passion for golf. He leaves behind cherished memories of many beach vacations where he never gave up his quest to find that perfect spot where the fish are, and ending the day enjoying his famous "Rickaritas" while sharing stories of the fish that got away.
There will be a celebration of his life at a later time.

Very fond memories of our years together at Thomas Publishing. Rick will be remembered by the Gural´s for his great salesmanship but equally for his infectious charm! We had good times and lots of laughs together. RIP Rick!

Rick´s smile & movie star good looks will stay with me forever. Then there was the time at the Blue Ribbon Grill when I missed a step & Rick swooped in and picked me up off the floor. Rick & Donna were a great match and we were so happy for them when they married. Rick was a big hearted man with many , many friends. My husband David & I will miss him.

I remember so many things about my brother. The earliest was when he babysat for me and my sister Cindy. As soon as our parents would drive away, he would play restaurant with us. That meant we would fix him something to eat and I don't remember ever getting a tip! Many years later after receiving my pilots license I took hime up for a ride and scared him so badly that he still told the story years later. I got him back! I'll miss our laughter, and even our political arguments. Just having my only big brother to call when things got bad. You were so kind and gentle when I lost Dan. I will treasure those phone calls forever.

I remember visiting Rick when he lived in Alexandria. He picked us up in his Mazda RX7 and drove REALLY fast on the expressway! I also remember he had just gotten a very nice stereo system and showed it off by playing Phil Collins´ "In the Air Tonight". Sounded great! And I remember celebrating his 40th birthday while playing croquet in his yard.
Earliest memories...many more later.
I loved him and I will really miss him.
