Dear Brenda,
I remember Ricky as a very nice young man. He came over a lot to visit my grandchildren Rick and Megan Guerrero when we lived on S. Tinley in Sherwood Forest. I know you will miss Ricky and nothing I can say can take away the sadness in your heart but please know that those of us who got the chance to meet Ricky will always remember him as a sweet and kind young man with an unforgettable smile.God Bless

It has been a long time, but the years melted away when I saw the picture and writeup, and my heart has gone out to you all in your sorrow. I am one of many who will keep the loved ones of this handsome young man in prayer as you grieve. He sounds like a wonderful person with a sure soul. I hope you can draw comfort from that and from each other.

We are so saddened by this tragic loss. We loved Ricky and he was such a welcome visitor in our home. The laughter factor went up whenever he was there. He was such a special and dear friend to Bradley. My heart aches and I pray that you and the family will find strength in God's love.

Dear Brenda, Richelle, Angela and family,
As I read through all of the wonderful, heartfelt messages in this guest book, I was moved by the many lives this young man of 20 touched. At the wake last night there was standing room only. I can't begin to know the depth of pain each of you are feeling but I am certain that Ricky is with God, and as Richelle said, he has become a guardian angel. My deepest, most sincere, loving thoughts and prayers are with each of you now and always. I pray that this pain and suffering will bring you ever closer to God.
All my love, Joyce

There are no words that anyone can say to take away the pain that you are feeling right now. The one thing that I can say -- is to have faith in yourselves, your loved ones, and most of all - in God. I know that just like my dad, Ray T, Ricky Metz is now watching over all of us and guiding us. My prayers are with your family during this time.

To Brenda,
Remember the promise Jesus made in the 14th Chapter of John’s Gospel, when he said “I am leaving to prepare a place for you and when I have prepared that place, I will come again and take you unto myself that where I am, there you, may be also.” What a marvelous promise, knowing that at this very moment, Ricky is in that place God has prepared especially for him. Take joy in knowing that he is with his Lord and at peace and that one day you will see him again. May God’s grace and love sustain you.

my darling brother,
well kid, i am at a loss for words. the intense pain i feel in my heart is almost unbearable. for so much of our childhood it was just you and me. i will always cherish those times we had together. you were such a big part of me and my life that i don't know how to go on without you. but don't worry i will do the best i can so that i can take care of mama. i know you are probably worried about that but don't be, richelle and i will make sure she is taken care of. we will never be able to fill the void of your absence but we will do the best we can to try and find her happiness in something. ricky i love you more than you can imagine, i know you are at peace now and that is how i will get thru this. please watch over us baby, stay close always!
i love you lil' ricky,

To the Metz Family,

First I would just like apologize and say that I am so sorry for not keeping in touch over the years and that I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Ricky as my first best friend. One of my favorite stories to tell til this day is when we were over at the house for Ricky's birthday and there was a kicker from LSU there. We all went into the front yard to play and shortly after the lady next door stormed out of her house and chased us out of her yard. After hearing what happened Mrs. Brenda happily strolled over to the house to give the lady a piece of her mind. Again I would like to say how sorry I am for your loss and I wish I could be there to attend the services. You will all be in my prayers.

Metz,

While I never met your brother and haven't seen you in years I am so sorry for the pain you and your family are in. I know your kids will certainly miss him, as will you, but I hope you take comfort in the fact that he seems like a really great kid who made your family VERY proud to have him carry your last name. Please let me know if you need anything, as the loss of a sibling makes it very hard to get up every day. Please know your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Ricky about a year ago at a random party in Baton Rouge- he is the funniest guy I've EVER met in my life & he has such an awesome personality.. he's a crazy kid! He was also dating my room mate & best friend Sarah at the time of his death, he practically lived at our apartment in Hammond, he was over here at least 4 days out of the week. It's crazy how he's not with us anymore. I'm going to miss his laugh the most- he had a distinct & contagious laugh that made me laugh everytime I heard it. RICKY I'M GOING TO MISS ALL THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD OUT HERE IN HAMMOND. I LOVE YOU BOY! REST IN PEACE. <3

Ricky,
There are no words to describe the pain that I feel in my heart right now. I am so confused and so deeply hurt that God took you from this earth. There are so many things that I could say about you, but no words to describe the true emotion behind them. You were my very best friend for so long, and the thought of never seeing you again and never hearing your voice or seeing that big smile kills me inside.

You taught me so many things while you were here. If anyone could make me laugh it was you, and there are so many things that run through my head when I think of all the times we laughed until we cried. You were my world for so long and I truly just don’t think the world should go on without you.

If anyone deserves to be in heaven it’s you. I know that God takes the best first, and he definitely wasn’t messing up when he put you on the list of the best. I know that you are with my daddy and that the two of you are probably acting up right now. I know that my daddy will take care of you, and I know that you will give him a hug and kiss for me.

I’m not sure why God wanted you now, I guess he needed you more than we did and that’s hard to imagine. It breaks my heart that I will not be able to watch you achieve your goals. Becoming a dentist, a husband, a father and being a genuinely good father were the goals you have had since you were 15 years old. I guess God had something more planned for you. Please be with us, especially over the next few days. Give me the strength to give you to God and to understand why your mission in heaven is more important than your journey here on earth.

Ricky I will miss you so much, I have so many amazing memories in my heart because of you. You were so loved by so many people. There is a void in our hearts that will never be filled because of losing you, but feeling your presence will comfort us all. Behave yourself up there baby boy, and know that you will never be forgotten. I love you!
