Richard D. Millet Sr. Richard D. Millet Sr. BROCKTON Richard D. Huck Millet Sr., age 84 years, of Brockton, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Howland) Millet. Born Thursday, Oct. 22, 1925, in Easton, he was a son of the late Henry and Lena (Blackwell) Millet. Huck was educated in Easton schools and had lived in Brockton for the past 65 years. He retired in 1986 from Conrail, where he worked for 39 years as a signal maintainer. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a 25-year member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and a former Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed mountain climbing, traveling, especially to Bermuda, walking, ceramics and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family. He had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Brockton for the past 60 years. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Flathers of Brockton; a son, Richard D. Millet Jr. and his wife Paula of Bridgewater; four grandchildren, Tracie Macomber, Kellie MacDonald, Eric Millet and Daniel Millet; two step-grandchildren, Paul Flathers and Peter Flathers; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 10 Bouve Ave., Brockton. Visitation has been omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Abiding Memorial Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 10 Bouve Ave., Brockton, MA 02301, or to Hospice of Greater Brockton, 500 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301.
