Richard Moak Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 23, 2025.
Richard Robert Moak

August 3, 1961 - July 12, 2025

Richard Robert Moak, 64, of Holiday, Florida, passed away after a long illness on July 12, 2025, at the Rucki Hospice Care Center - just before midnight, in what we can only assume was one final, well-timed exit. Rick faced his illness with the same stubborn strength and sharp wit that defined him. True to form, he fought hard, held on long, and was never quite ready to leave the party. His resilience and sarcasm never wavered - even in his final days.

Born in Albany, New York, on August 3, 1961, Rick was a 1979 graduate of Maple Hill High School. He went on to serve his country proudly and honorably in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1983 as an automotive repairman.

After his military service, Rick worked in many fields, but for 27 years Jacobson Homes was Rick's second family. Through a mix of leadership, reliability, and skill, he rose to the role of Electrical Supervisor.

In 2009, Rick founded the band Wallace Blvd, where he served as lead singer and brought people together through music - one of his greatest joys. He especially relished seeing people out on the dance floor, and he built many lasting connections through his love of music.

Rick was deeply passionate about his country and his beliefs. A fiercely loyal Republican, he was never shy about expressing his views and stood firm in his convictions. He believed in personal responsibility, patriotism, and the value of hard work - principles that guided every chapter of his life.

He also enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR, the Miami Dolphins, and golf - his DVR set to record every game and race so that he would miss nothing.

Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Moak, in April 2025.

He is survived by his children, Richard Blair and Caroline Depaz; stepchildren, Wayne, Sharon, and Duane Badger; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas and William Moak, along with extended family and friends who will remember him with love, laughter, and a few middle fingers - because that's how Rick would've wanted it.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Anclote Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Holiday, Florida, on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Flowers and donations are not necessary. However, in honor of Rick's love for cats, those wishing to do so may donate to a nonprofit cat rescue organization of their choice.
