So very sorry for the loss of one of the best people to ever inhabit this planet.
He will be terribly missed.

Rich taught me alot over the years about valuing friendship, being a compassionate listener, and staying logical and fair in all things. We had some goofy good times working together (80´s) and catching up after long lapses as though no time had passed. "Relcho Von Moscow" always maintained a jazzy-improv good humor, despite the challenges. I'm so grateful to him. Hoping there´s a vibrant place where he´s shredding eternal.

I met Rich in 2010. He introduced me to the World Cafe Live and other parts of West Philadelphia. We ate all types of food as well at BYOBs. I was supposed to visit him on April 4th but that didn´t happen. My condolences to the family.

If I remember correctly, Rich played a 'right handed' kit LEFT HANDED. Unless he was riding a hi hat you'd never know which hand was dominant. I've seen him play in clogs, laughable yes, but anyone who appreciates footwork will wonder how he pulled that off. He seemed fearless about time signature and tempo. His sight reading ( as far as I could keep up with it ) was spot on. I saw him dabble in piano too.
I've known alot of drummers but nobody stands out in my mind like Richard Moscowitz to this day, peer or teacher.
Somebody else in this section said Rich's humor was dry but he certainly did banter with the rest of the percussion section of the Ocelots, occasionally trading one liners with Charles Ostrander or Richard Bonomo. Rich was also kind enough to explain certain cadences. Sometimes he'd break down an awesome drum part we heard on a record or somewhere. He'd get that little slack jaw sometimes in the middle of a riff. He was certainly fun to watch.
I'm going back over 40 years with this. To be honest I really didn't know Richard Moscowitz well outside of MKA. Some of the favorite times I remember about the place we're spent in his proximity.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Rich and I were classmates for two years at MKA. Try as he might, he couldn't get me up to speed in drum class. He was, though, a great guide in expanding my music interests. He could be particular, precise, and idiosyncratic, and I liked that about him. It was in a very thoughtful and analytical manner, not all dogmatic, and always with a dry wit, resistant to my efforts to stump him. We had remained in contact over the years, but perhaps not enough. I will miss him. My prayers, sympathies, and condolences to his family, bandmates, colleagues, and friends.

My sincere condolences to Richard´s family and friends. Richard was a childhood friend and neighbor and I remember his quirky sense of humor, incredible photography and passion for music. I´ll give a listen to Billy Joel in his honor as we saw him perform in Passaic NJ when Piano Man had just been released! Rest in peace Richard.

The first time I saw Richard was at Camp Mac Kee Nac. We were saying good bye on visiting day and our eight year old son Jon was very tearful. Suddenly Richard, who we did not yet know, came up to Jon and put his arm around his shoulder. The two walked down the hill together and Jon never looked back. They remained dear friends until Jon passed. Over the years, Richard became very special to me. We were in touch and our last conversation was shortly before his passing. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to his family.
