Richard Osterman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 17, 2020.
Richard Louis Osterman "Grampa" Age 62, passed away on January 17th 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Richard is survived by his devoted wife Debra to whom he was married for 34 years. He is survived by his four beautiful daughters; Jennifer Keefe and her husband Mark of Bridgewater, Jody O'Brien of Rockland, Amanda Osterman and her girlfriend Amanda Smith of Weymouth, Caitlin Osterman Englehart and her husband Matt of Brockton. Richard leaves behind 9 grandchildren who lovingly call him Grampa. Timothy, Matthew, Emily and Daniel Keefe; Brianna, Mackenzie, Owen and Cameron O'Brien; Jaiden Johnson. Richard was born on June 19, 1957 to the late John and Virginia Osterman. Loving brother of Susan Bartolini of Sterling, Dr. Janet Osterman of Hingham, Karen Augenstern of Hull, John Osterman of Tewksbury, Ann Jordan of Weymouth, Stephen Osterman of Manchester by the Sea, Dr. Virginia Osterman of Collegeville, PA, Louis Osterman of Weymouth and Margaret Cipriano of Marshfield. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Richard was a devoted father and grandfather who raised his family in Weymouth. He was a long time educator with the Quincy Public Schools. He thrived in his role as a Special Education teacher. He was easy to talk to and always quick with a joke. He was an avid Celtics fan and he enjoyed walking his dogs Lilah and Billy. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was the proudest Grampa who on any given weekend would be found on a field, court, gym or other sporting event to cheer them on. He truly was their #1 fan. Richard was a longtime friend of Bill W. and leaves behind many loving friends. He was loved by so many and will be forever missed. He will always be in our hearts. Richard's family welcomes all to the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland on Tuesday January 21st 2020 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A celebration of Richards life with sharing of stories and wonderful memories will begin at 7:00 PM.

So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. My sincere condolences to his family. It was truly a blessing to have spent my teen years with the Osterman clan. God Bless Jack and Ginny for their patience and guidance during those years! I have so many fond memories of Dick including the sheer joy of life and hysterical laughter, playing sports together, and the ever present soft spot in his heart for the underdog. What a beautiful legacy Dick left to the world. I have faith that God took him by the hand and welcomed in home. I will keep Dick and his family in my prayers. May the road rise up to meet you. May the winds always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

What I'll remember most about Dicky is his smile. He was such a happy, and outgoing person with the best sense of humor. He was welcoming and generous made any gathering fun.

We are the sum of all the people we meet and Nemo was a significant part of our teenage years. I even got my drivers license in his car!
To the entire Osterman family, I feel how profound your loss is and know you will find solace in honoring Richard. I wish I could be there to celebrate his life with all that loved him.
