Richard Webber Pomeroy

Richard Webber Pomeroy, 81, died on Monday, (November 3, 2003) at the Harbor Hill Care Center, Middletown. Born in Springfield, MA, February 2, 1922, he was raised in Longmeadow, MA, and then lived in Enfield from 1950 to 1996. He helped write the Enfield town charter in the 1960s, and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. During World War II he served in the Army in Trinidad as an MP. Later he worked at Hamilton Standard and Leybold, Inc. as an engineer and developer of Electron Beam Welding technology, used in the Space Program. He was a member of the Enfield Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was predeceased by his brother, Rayford Pomeroy of Hudson, NY, and then in 1996, his wife Irma (Rowley) Pomeroy. He leaves his daughter, Ruth Demers and son-in-law, Robert Demers of Clinton; two grandsons, Joel and Richard Demers; a son, Edward Pomeroy of New Castle, DE; granddaughter, Heather; and grandson, Andrew Pomeroy; a brother, Edward R. Pomeroy of Glen Aubrey, NY; and a sister-in-law, Marie Pomeroy of Hudson, NY. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Grove Beach Road North, Westbrook, on Saturday, November 8, at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements: The Abbey Cremation Services of Connecticut.
