Richard Dale Reimann

This world lost a giant of a man on Monday, February 6, 2023 when Richard (“Dick”) Dale Reimann (82) passed away. After a week surrounded by family and friends, he left peacefully back to his Heavenly Father. He was born and raised in Columbia Heights, MN, oldest son of Robert A. and Harriet E. Reimann. He was preceded in death by (his dad, mom, brother Bruce) and many beloved pets. He is survived by his children Tammy Manwaring (Seann Miller), Jennifer (Jeremy Davis), Robert, and Kenneth (Allison), 12 grandchildren (Spencer, Andrew, Taylor, Riley, Jacob, Jacqueline, Miah, Andilusia, Samantha, Lydia, Olivia, and Hunter), his brothers Gary (Bev) and Lloyd (Carol), many nieces and nephews, and his dogs Sissy and Sally. Dick loved the farm, his family, and his animals. He bought “Reimann’s Rolling Acres” in 1967 at the age of 27. After working at Medtronic out of a garage for a few years, he went to work at Honeywell for $0.25/hour more than he was making at Medtronic! He worked at Honeywell and Alliant Techsystems for over 32 years. With work located just south of the farm, Dick would often drive his snowmobile to work in the winter, and the sounds of testing munitions could frequently be heard and rock the farmhouse. He loved farming and living on the farm where he raised chickens (40,000 at a time), cows, pigs, horses, rabbits, dogs, lots of cats, tons of hay, bountiful garden vegetables, and his children. Dick married Jacqueline Ruth Hagstrom in 1970 and later divorced but remained friends to the end. They built a family of wonderful and strong
people. He loved his family and his animals - to say his dogs and other animals were spoiled is an understatement. Dick was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America from his youth through adulthood (as a boy scout and scout leader). As a youth, he completed every requirement for Eagle Scout, except the one-mile run. He was a great example and knowledgeable regarding everything about Scouts. He remained actively involved in Scouts for many years and even had the opportunity to share scouting with his two sons. Dick was an avid drag racer and raced cars with his brothers and friends. He also loved snowmobiling, nature, the outdoors, and traveling. He was the strongest man we know. He was stubborn, hardworking, smart, and funny in a dad sort of way (replaying many of the same jokes and antics). He would often quip, “illegitimi non carborundum – don’t let the bastards grind you down” … and he never let them. He was fiercely independent and resilient, living on the farm that he loved so much up until the moment he went to the hospital. He was great at anything mechanical or automotive, extremely intelligent and
never stopped learning. There wasn’t a conversation he couldn’t contribute to because he knew so much about so much. He was an avid collector – books, guns, cars, knowledge – you name it, he probably collected it. He had polio as a child, but that never stopped him from doing most
things. Post-polio presented more challenges as he became "the last of the dinosaurs," and remained a medical mystery until the end. He will remain a legend in his own right. He faced more challenges and close calls that a dozen people would find hard to overcome. We lost a
good one and miss him dearly but know he is not in pain anymore, and he's able to run for the first time since he was a young child. There's a grand and glorious reunion happening with him, his brother, his parents, and so many more. Until we meet again, we love you! Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11 am at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. A luncheon and further fellowship will follow the services at the Anoka American Legion Post #102, 400 West Main Street, Anoka. The Anoka Legion is just 3 or 4 doors down Main Street to the west of the funeral home.
